1. What this app is designed to collect
The public app requires no account and contains no advertising, campaign analytics, behavioral tracking, or server-side database. Searching and filtering the support directory occurs inside your browser. As with most websites, the hosting provider may automatically create limited technical access logs needed to deliver and protect the site; review the selected host’s settings and retention policy before launch.
2. The private vault
The optional private vault stores an encrypted data package in this browser’s local storage. Its contents may include a safety plan, incident entries, and trusted contacts that you choose to enter.
- Your passphrase is used in the browser to derive an encryption key.
- The app does not store or transmit the passphrase.
- The app does not send vault content to Daveigh’s Law or any remote server.
- The decrypted key and content remain in memory only while the vault is unlocked in the active page.
- Closing or refreshing the page clears the in-memory key. The vault also locks after an inactivity period.
3. Device and backup responsibility
The encrypted vault is tied to browser storage on the device where it was created or imported. Clearing browser data, using private browsing, changing browsers, losing the device, or a device failure can remove access. The app includes an encrypted backup export. A backup still requires the original passphrase.
The passphrase cannot be recovered by Daveigh’s Law, the website host, or the app. Store it and encrypted backups in locations you control.
4. Printing and sharing
Printing the vault creates a readable version through the browser’s print system. A printed page or saved PDF can contain sensitive information. You control where it is saved, printed, or shared.
5. External services
The support directory links directly to independent organizations, hotlines, government resources, and service providers. Calling, texting, chatting, or visiting one of those services is governed by that provider’s privacy practices and confidentiality rules. Daveigh’s Law does not receive those communications through this app.
6. Service-worker storage
The app may cache its public interface files on the device so it can load more reliably and offer limited offline access. The cache contains public code and design assets—not decrypted vault entries.
7. Children and shared devices
A young person should consider whether a device is shared, monitored, or controlled by someone else before creating a vault or contacting a service. The app includes a quick-exit link, yet browser history, phone records, downloaded files, notifications, and device-management tools may still reveal activity. A hotline advocate or trusted professional can help plan for safer communication.
8. Deletion
The “Erase vault” control removes the encrypted vault from this browser’s local storage. Browser settings can also remove site data. Deleting the browser copy does not delete backup files previously exported to another location.
9. Future features
Any future campaign signup, donation, story submission, or account feature should receive its own privacy review and clear notice before launch. The current static build keeps those server-based collection features disabled.
